Drone Aviation Holding Corp., a developer of tethered unmanned aerial monitoring and communications platforms, has announced that it has received a Notice of Allowance from the US Patent and Trade Mark Office (USPTO) for its patent detailing a system and method for converting battery-powered free-flying unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) into ground-powered tethered drones.
The filed patent, entitled “System for Converting a Safeguarded Free Flight Onboard Battery-Powered Drone to a Ground-Powered Tethered Drone,” outlines Drone Aviation’s proprietary method for converting battery-powered drones into tethered system with ground-based power. Such a system will extend drone flight endurance and improve safety for commercial and recreational UAVs.

Drone Aviation expects a final patent to be issued in the 4th quarter of 2019.
