FlareBright Ltd a UK based start-up company has announced the launch of its latest autonomous drone product, ADDER (Autonomous Delivery Drone Emergency Resupply).

Delivered by air, ADDER enables accurate and autonomous last-mile resupply to a pinpoint location. Using AI in conjunction with additional software, ADDER can achieve pinpoint delivery of small packages. Crucially it can do this in all weathers, all atmospheric conditions and outside of the Electro Magnetic Spectrum.

Once released the ADDER prototypes glide the last few hundred metres to a target location on the ground, achieving accuracy within 2m and capable of carrying equipment weighing up to 200g over a distance of 200m. Larger aircraft with a greater payload capacity and increased accuracy will be developed in the future.

Applications for the ADDER include a confidential industrial project to deliver vital offshore equipment to locations in any conditions. Failure to deliver vital equipment to offshore industrial installations can incur substantial fiscal costs, making ADDER’s all weather capabilities particularly valuable.

Numerous defence applications are also applicable, including the last-mile resupply of small goods, delivered safely and autonomously and the potential of weaponizing ADDER to deliver to a pre-determined target. So far customer interest spans law enforcement, emergency services, industrial inspection companies, urban mapping and the defence sector.

Speaking of a new era of AI-enabled drone technology FlareBright’s CEO, Kelvin Hamilton said: “We have many years of software and AI development to reach the point of being confident to deliver vital supplies to any location in the world irrespective of weather or other challenges. We are expecting this to launch a new era of AI-enabled drone delivery.”

FlareBright’s existing product SnapShot which comprises hand-portable and extremely robust equipment, can take high-quality aerial images in most weathers and atmospheric conditions. Having recently completed 500 test flights, the SnapShot is ballistically launched to 100m and then uses sophisticated, patent pending software to control a glide path home to the user. Both SnapShot and ADDER can fly in almost any weather or atmospheric conditions and are unaffected by electromagnetic signals, crucially enabling operations even when denied the Electro Magnetic Spectrum.

FlareBright will be exhibiting at DSEI this September in London, in the UK Pavilion.
