ORCA MWIR drone camera gimbal

Threod Systems, a developer of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and UAV subsystems, has announced that it has signed a contract with defense company International Gold Group (IGG) to provide sixteen UAV gimbals with an option for additional sales.

The Threod Systems Orca is an EO/IR gimbal featuring an EO sensor with 30x optical zoom and 720p HD video, a cooled MWIR sensor in 720p H.264 format, a laser rangefinder and an IR pointer. Its capabilities include moving target indication, target tracking and geo-locking, and 360-degree continuous pan and tilt. It is designed for both commercial and law enforcement/defense use.

Villiko Nurmoja, CEO of Threod Systems, commented: “We are excited to be partnered with a company as high profile as IGG in the region. We look to establish a long-standing relationship with them and know that this will be the first of many opportunities together.“

Kristjan Tiimus, Threod’s CTO, said: “We look to set the standard for product development in our field. This is the latest example of what is to come from Threod. Given that the gimbal is developed in house, this gives us complete control of the engineering process, and allows for a product that is best in class.”

Khalifa Al Bloushi, Deputy CEO of International Gold Group, said: “IGG is glad to work in partnership with Threod for the delivery of its high-tech Gimbals. We believe that there are more opportunities to come together in the region and we are keen to work with our partners Threod to meet the requirements of our clientele.“
