UAVOS has announced that it has developed a test bed for internal combustion engines that have been specifically designed for unmanned aerial systems (UAS). The test bed supports multi-cylinder engines with a maximum power of up to 25hp, and features built-in cooling.
The system can output graphs of power, torque, thermal efficiency, fuel consumption and other characteristics. It also features protection against excessively high speeds, overheating and engine overload.
The test bed displays the following critical engine parameters:
- Rotation velocity
- Torque
- Power
- Engine temperature
- Exhaust temperature
- Air-fuel mixture composition
Equipped with remote-control operation, the test bed offers a wide range of capabilities, including:
- Measurement of maximum torque and maximum power
- Analysis of part load torque and nominal loads
- Analysis of efficiency and fuel consumption characteristics at varying speeds and loads
- Measurement of engine and exhaust temperatures
- Determination of optimum ignition timing angle
- Determination of air-to-fuel ratio
- Fine-tuning and calibration of fuel injection system
