Orbital UAV has announced that, as specified in the company’s Long Term Agreement (LTA) with Insitu Inc., it has begun shipping the second model of UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle) engine to Insitu. The first engine model was a derivative of Orbital’s Modular Propulsion Solution, featuring the company’s patented FlexDI technology, while this second model is based upon an Insitu design.
Insitu is a key customer of Orbital UAV, and the two companies work closely on the design of new propulsion solutions for UAVs. The LTA between the two companies covers the delivery of multiple propulsion systems and services, which will be incorporated into Insitu’s entire fleet of unmanned aircraft system (UAS) platforms. This second engine is being assembled and shipped from Orbital’s purpose-built production facility in Hood River, Oregon, USA.
