Octopus ISR Systems Epsilon 140LC UAV payloadOctopus ISR Systems has released the Epsilon 140LC, a low-SWaP (size, weight and power) electro-optical/infrared (EO/IR) surveillance system for small UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles). The new camera system combines state-of-the-art sensor technology with high-precision geo-location capabilities, providing superior image quality and stabilization performance in order to locate and identify targets at maximum range.

The Epsilon 140LC integrates a high-definition 30x zoom EO sensor and a LWIR sensor with 25mm / F 1.0 lens into a single compact system weighing less than 1.3 kilograms. This high level of integration provides smaller UAV platform developers with a professional high-performance surveillance system without sacrificing endurance.

The Epsilon 140LC features a completely sealed, nitrogen-filled design that enables the system to operate in even the harshest of weather conditions. Its rugged magnesium structure is optimized to handle shock and rapid acceleration. The payload offers installation flexibity with in either nose- or belly-mounted position options, making it highly suited to UAVs with limited payload capacity.

Konstantins Krivovs, Business Development Manager of Octopus ISR Systems, commented: “UAV platform producers are always seeking ISR payloads offering new capabilities at the smallest size, weight, power and cost, and the Epsilon 140LC raises the bar for performance in a uniquely compact product. This innovative new product is designed to address the need in the smaller UAV market for professional payloads with top functionality that stay within significant cost and weight constraints. At the same time, the Epsilon 140LC offers new benefits to manufacturers of larger UAVs: the small weight and reliable performance of the payload enhances platform endurance, allowing for longer missions or the capacity to carry additional equipment.”
