Inspired Flight Technologies has introduced the IF1000, a hexacopter unmanned aerial vehicle with a payload capacity of 3.5kg (7.7lb) that is designed to adapt to specific commercial, industrial or federal requirements. Ideal for building a fleet of drones for geospatial, defense or custom applications, the US-made IF1000 is well-suited as a replacement for DJI and other foreign-made drones in compliance with potential forthcoming U.S. government national security regulations.
The IF1000 builds upon Inspired Flight’s successful IF750 line of quadcopters that are currently in use around the world in industries such as mining, construction, security, and R&D.
The new hexacopter platform features an open-source ecosystem and modular architecture with rigorous data-security protocols, and is designed to be highly adaptable, with easy integration of additional sensors and payloads to accomplish unique mission objectives.
The IF1000 can be equipped with a variety of optional features and full-stack industrial configurations, including HD video-streaming, companion computers, fully integrated optical and EO/IR imaging solutions for inspection, surveillance and security, RTK GNSS positioning, and a non-ballistic parachute recovery system. Inspired Flight has also partnered with LIDAR USA and is their exclusive supplier of US-made electric UAVs for geospatial drone solutions.
Marc Stollmeyer, CEO of Inspired Flight, commented: “The IF1000 changes the game for enterprises adopting heavier-lift UAV platforms into their workflows. Through its unique advantage of easily tailoring around mission-specific requirements, the IF1000 will become a native fit into a company’s toolbox and deliver actionable results to drive a company’s bottom line.”

Inspired Flight drone platforms are ideal for OEMs, as they can easily be adapted to meet specific customer requirements. SafeSight Exploration, a developer of unmanned solutions for underground inspections, has previously integrated the IF750 with a LiDAR-based payload to provide a semi-autonomous solution for complex geospatial missions in underground mining environments. This new inspection capability provided SafeSight’s customers with a way to gather more accurate data with increased safety.
A spokesperson from SafeSight stated: “Inspired Flight products have been a key component to creating a high integration. A solid platform with an open framework that will allow for highly intelligent drone behaviour.”
