UAVOS has confirmed that it can now provide industrial-grade carbon fiber blade rotors for unmanned helicopters with take-off weights of up to 140 kg. The rotor blades can be provided in diameters of up to 3200 mm, and can be customized to suit exact UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle) requirements.
Thanks to UAVOS’ industrial production processes the main rotor blades feature long operational life, enhanced aerodynamic performance, and increased wear resistance under severe weather conditions. The rotor blades are produced with carbon fiber reinforced prepregs (CFRP) using a curing oven, and the leading edges are made of brass for improved durability. The blades’ operational lifespan is 2,600 hours, with the possibility of extending this further.
UAVOS works with clients to gather specifics on their particular unmanned helicopter platforms, including the weight, the number of rotor blades, rotor speed and diameter, and the direction the rotor blades turn. The first step in the design process is main rotor blade airfoil selection. 3D modelling is then employed to ensure that the rotor can withstand large forces, severe weather conditions, high RPM, and high flight speeds.
The main rotors undergo strict tests with forces 30% higher than they would expect to encounter during normal operations, ensuring solid performance. External tests are also carried out including endurance, harsh environment resistance, as well as additional strength testing. After blade balancing checks and testing, markings are applied that contain all the necessary information for blade identification.
Customers are provided with the test results as well as the supporting documentation. The blades are delivered in a convenient packaging that can be used for daily operations.
Aliaksei Stratsilatau, CEO of UAVOS, commented: “UAVOS’s advanced developments show our commitment to innovation and next-generation programs for the modernization of unmanned helicopters. As a manufacturer of unmanned platforms and UAV components, UAVOS continues to push the envelope to find new and reliable solutions to let our customers fly longer, safer, and always for the best price.”
