Take a look at our round-up of the five most read articles on UST this week, including new technologies, partnerships, events, and industry successes.
1. Voyis, L3Harris & Wavefront to Enhance AUV Capabilities
L3Harris, Voyis and Wavefront have collaborated to deliver advanced technology to enhance NATO Navy’s autonomous underwater vehicles (AUV) capabilities.
The Voyis team, in collaboration with Wavefront Systems, has been granted a successful factory acceptance test of the Recon LS/3000MAS AUV payload with L3Harris, to be delivered to a NATO Navy, further improving the IVER4 900 capabilities.
2. Sharing Aviation Safety Culture with Drone Students
Darren Large, Senior Adjunct Professor and president of the NEC/AAAE, is teaching an appreciation of the aviation safety culture to WarrenUAS students looking to carve-out a career within the professional drone industry.
His work in the decade since has touched everything in the airport management field, from overseeing snow-removal operations and managing large airfield construction projects to teaching 18-year-olds how to fly drones safely at Warren County Community College, which is building one of the best drone training programs in the country.
3. LINIA’s Automated Flight Route Software Integrated with Xer’s X8 UAV
A collaboration between Xer Technologies and LINIA has enabled the seamless integration of LINIA’s automated flight route software with the X8 UAV platform.
The integration of LINIA’s automated flight route software with Xer’s X8 UAV platform significantly enhances the efficiency and productivity of drone-based inspections. The fusion of LINIA’s advanced automation with the Xer X8’s endurance and weight capacity results in a substantial increase in daily inspection output.
4. The Wankel Engine Reimagined: Inside UAVHE’s Revolutionary New Hybrid Propulsion Unit for UAVs
Hybrid propulsion systems developer UAVHE has created a new rotary engine-generator solution that aims to solve this pain point for the medium-size class of UAVs.
Powered by a Wankel-type air-cooled fuel injection engine with an electronic supercharger, the unit takes advantage of the fact that the specific power capacity of fuels such as kerosene are tens of times greater than even the best lithium batteries, while leveraging the advantages of hybrid powertrains in order to minimize fuel consumption and boost efficiency.
5. Cambridge Sensoriis Wins Grant to Deliver oDART Technology
Cambridge Sensoriis has been awarded a NATEP (National Aerospace Technology Exploitation Programme) grant to deliver an ultra-lightweight onboard Detection and Avoidance Radar Tracking (oDART) avionics system.
oDART leverages micro radar technologies that have been specifically developed for low altitude flight onboard Uncrewed Aerial Systems (UAS) and will adapt and introduce these into crewed aircraft.
