1. Water Quality Monitored with Electric Drones
Skyports Drone Services in collaboration with Makutu has successfully completed maiden test flights for a new drone inspection service set to help water companies monitor and improve the quality of river and coastal water.
The new service, which combines Skyports Drone Services’ expert remote drone operations and winch technology with Makutu’s water testing solution, has launched a pilot study with UK water supplier Northumbrian Water.
2. Robosys to Supply AI-Driven Autonomous Control System for USV
Robosys Automation, an AI-driven maritime autonomy and smart-shipping specialist, has secured a contract from Legacy Marine of South Africa for the supply and integration of AI systems for a fully autonomous USV.
The USV’s control system for autonomous navigation uses Robosys’ Voyager AI system, which provides for the onboard navigation, visual and autonomous control of the USV at various levels of autonomy.
3. Electra Project Launched: Innovation for Aeronautical Sustainability
Within the framework of the 2023 Aeronautical Technology Programme, Embention, Fiber Laminates, Zelestium and Abervian, have joined forces to work on the Electra project. A cutting-edge initiative addressing the electrification of the Martin 3 S100, a dual seat aircraft with 600kg MTOW.
Electra’s main objective is the development and adaptation of an electric power and propulsion system for ultralight, vertical take-off aircraft (eVTOL) and other electric manned aircraft.
